WARNING: Handloads using data from the above tables appeared to be within reasonable pressure limits in the author’s rifle (Marlin short bolt action, 22-inch long Shilen barrel, rifling twist of 1 turn in 14 inches). Readily available components were used and prudent handloading and shooting practices were followed. Cases were formed from commercial .358 Winchester brass and Winchester Large Rifle primers were used exclusively. It is recommended that NO other cases be used due to possible pressure problems associated with excessive case neck thickness and reduced powder capacity. Loads in the Maximum Load column should NEVER be exceeded. Careful handloaders will typically start with powder charges 5 to 10 percent below published maximum loads. No loads higher than those in the Starting Load column should be initially used. Handloaders MAY be able to safely work up loads somewhat heavier than those in the Starting Loads column. However, all handloading and shooting involves inherent risks beyond the control of the author. Therefore, the author assumes no liability whatsoever for use of the above data.
