That's true, where you're from determines who the Yankees are. The Mason/Dixon line is the border for Yankees if you're a southerner. If you're from New England then anyone outside of the 6 New England states is not a Yankee. It's even taken a step further in New England sometimes - if you can't trace your family roots back to the 1700's in at least one New England state then you're not a Yankee.
