who's shot 40?
« on: April 09, 2004, 11:51:51 PM »
G'day mates,
I have seen mentioned a few times here, that people have shot 40 in hunter rimfire. I haven't seen any mention of someone shooting 40 in high power. Did David Tubb shoot 40?

kind regards

No one has officially shot a forty. The closest to achieving perfection was Agustin Sanchez, from Tijuana, Mexico, shooting a 39 at the Nationals in Ridgway, PA last year. He missed one chicken. He was only 19 years old at the time and it was his 4th High Power match ever. Scary, isn't it?

Sorry but several people have shot 40's.

I beleaive Troy Lawton was the first.

I spotted for Tim Kurreck at the California State championships when he shot a 40.

Someone must have the full list.

Sorry guys.

The above mentioned 40 that I saw was in Standard Rifle.

I guess I'm not sure about Hunter.

Hi Guys.
Conard Bernhardt shot a 38X40 Standard,
                                     40X40 Light Rifle Remington 541-S
                                     40X40 Standard
                                     40X40 Light Rifle
That was in one day,That was back when we were shooting Light Rifle,
7.5 Gun 2# trigger, Instead of hunter rules we shoot now.

i think lead is asking about highpower hunter rifle.
but since we're bragging,  i watched dennis dadian shoot a 40x40 in smallbore and then shoot a 39x40 in hp right after.  both standard rifle.  don't tell him i'm braggin on him.  he is very shy and not one to speak about himself.

I signed the papers for Lee O' Neil's 40 small bore at Jackson WY so I am sure he did.  Troy Lawton won a truck at Winsbro for SB one year and Kathy has done it in SB but I don't know of any HP.  I am sure that others have done it in SB but the list is small.  That is why our bunch of shooters is so small.  Busting 25 with a scatter gun is common and shooting clean in round targets happens quite often.  I rest my case.

Jerry Tureau shot a 40 in small bore ,I think standard rifle,I have seen him shoot several 39's. Clark Williams missed his first chicken  than ran the rest at The Sunshine Clasic one year.

As far as HP goes, I was looking at the record list from the NRA at the past AZ State Match a couple of weeks ago.  Standard Rifle-Augistin Sanchez 39/40.  Hunter Rifle-David Tubb 36/40.  As far as SB goes I have heard of a few people shooting a 40, but has anyone seen or heard of a 60/60? Let us know!      Jim

I watched Troy shoot a 40 at Brunswick, Ga a couple of years ago. He finished on rams and they presented him the last ram after the match. Rbump

Yep, that was the first 40 in Hunter, there were several in Standard. I don't know about HP. Bump, do they still shoot HP at GRPC?
