Blue Loctite Question

I switched to lower rings on my 22 Hornet tonight, what's the trick to get the old Loctite off the ring screws so I can use them on another rifle?

Get them hot, then use a brass bristle brush.  A small flame for a few seconds....about 250 degrees.

1+ on heat and brass brush. I use a small pin vise to hold the screw . 26-t

there is a loc-tite solvent, but +2 on heat and brush

Heat and a brush will work just fine..
BUT why bother? Buy new screws, esp on a set of rings you have used or bought used. They streach and with the fine thread really are not made to work over and over. BEST part they are cheap! A trip to most GS will net you the needed screws. IF none close enough Midway and Brownells will ship them out quickly.
 
One last point, Personally I never lock tight rings, only bases. Ring screws can be easily and quickly checked unlike bases that are under the scope.

Next time use the purple LocTite, it is made for the smaller screws.

Could use green also, but getting the screw out would likely call for a drill

I always use blue and don't bother cleaning any off if I remove the screw.  Just add more and tighten it back up again.

+1 on what omega hunter said.  I've never cleaned loctite off the screws, just add a little more.  Never had a scope slip - yet.  I also use about 1/2 drop of silicone sealant on the inside of the ring to prevent slippage on heavy recoilers (like my 30-06 handi).  Easily removed and grips scope securely.

Believe it or not, another good threadlocker for small screws is your wife's (or yours though I don't want to know), clear fingernail polish.
