30-30 / 12 ga combo nickel finish opinions wanted

Hi all
I found a 30-30/ 12 ga nickel finish combo at a local gun store in good shape (90% or so) with an older aimpoint on the 30-30 bbl. I can get it for $270 and it seems to have been made in 1988 (nc prefix). I'm always drawn to the idea of simplifying my stuff and this combo should do just about everything I need it to in New England. Looking for thoughts or opinions on whether this is a good deal. The only thing I noticed is the rear sight is missing but it looks like a standard dovetail so that shouldn't be a problem.

Id like it for 235.00 more, but I would probably take it if they wouldnt come down.

The price for the set isn't bad, but like olsoldja says, $235 would be better.  The asking price of $270, is just asking for you to knock it down to $250.  ;D   I would mention to the LGS owner that the gun was missing a rear sight, it might help your cause.

I would also check to make sure the set is a factory fitted set.  Take the gun apart, and look to see if the lugs have the last three digits of the serial number.  If not it might be a put together set, and I would use that to help you get a better price.  Since the gun is already apart ::) ,  ;) I would also check to see if it was an SB1 or SB2 receiver.

Old style lightweight 30-30 barrel?  I'd negociate like crazy, but I'd be walking out the door with it in a heartbeat.  I'd love one in 30-30/ 20 gauge.
