concealed carry holsters
« on: November 13, 2012, 02:52:31 PM »
Well I finally decided on a couple holsters for my cc handguns.  Both are from DeSantis.  One is a pocket holster "thumb break" type for my NAA mini Magnum.  The other is their "Soft-Tuk".  The soft-tuk is a surprisingly versatile holster adjustable for strong side, small of the back, and cross draw carry, at about any angle you could want.  For an IWB holster I think this is a great choice.

DeSantis makes some pretty good stuff. I have an OWB from them they call their speed scabbard, open top pancake style with no retainer strap, it rides high. This is made for my a 3" 44spl with adj. sights. I'm very happy with DeSantis quality.

I think it would be hard to get by with just one holster. Most of us have like a variety of guns for different applications too. That's part of the reason I always keep my eye open for a new 'system'.

Not long back I got a few Remora holsters. They have been working great with a smallish size pistol. Then there are the days when only 'deep cover' will do. I tried the 5-11 'holster T-Shirt', I like it. It's securely tucked under the arm & no one would know, easy to drive with is another plus.  Some of the IWB are pretty good, but going from standing to sitting can be an issue.

Holsters (er, scabbards) are addictive/pretty/manly/(add your own) but the only scabbard you need is a good belt and some pants---pants need to be changed often.

Sideguard holsters, well made and priced right! These are quality leather holsters made with heavy tooling leather. They are finished well and hold up to a lot of use. I had one of their OWB "the slide" holsters for a Kel-Tec P11 and carried it everywhere, comfortable and concealed. I could shake an (unloaded) gun in it upside down, would NOT budge, yet once broken in draw was quick. Erik (owner) does have an 8-9 week leadtime, but they are worth it! I have one for the Ruger SR9c on order, although I don't have the gun yet (waiting on amendment from the county).

I also have an N82 tactical IWB holster on order that should be here soon. I got the "professional" model that has a molded polycarbonate sleve for the gun itself, instead of kydex. They are made of suede, neoprene and cowhide and most reviewers say they are the most comfortable IWB holster out.

I wanted both holsters for the SR9c, because I like options. OWB is fine most of the time, but IWB will add more days of carry. My jeans fit better than they did a year ago, so IWB is now a more viable option :)

Bull Dog molded leather around $20 Hard to beat for the price! Very comfortable, well made, easy to conceal, and grips the gun well.

Fobus Evolution II holsters. Not quite as easy to conceal but great holsters with adjustable retention and still not that hard to conceal
