Do you want a H&R success thread this fall?
« on: October 03, 2012, 06:00:47 AM »
Hi All- Last fall/winter we had the Handi Success thread going. I would not mind doing that again but I am not able to update it as much so would update a couple times a week. Would like to run it as H&R not "handi success" And have 2 catgories  Shot and single projectile so we cover doves to Elephants.
If some one else would rather do it and do it their own way I won't mind that either, I just thought it was a fun topic last year. I suppose I could do a poll but that may be more hassle than we want to mess with also.
So please post or PM me with your thoughts and maybe we will do it again and see which caliber takes it this year.....
Thanks thejanitor

Sounds interesting.  Just start the thread and we'll add to it... ;)   Sor far I've only got tree rats, but I might get lucky later on!

It was fun, and you did a great job of keeping up with it, but I know it was a lot of work especially if you missed a few days.
What I would like to see is more pictures.  It's fun to see the different parts of the country repesented with some scenic backrounds.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

An open thread would be easiest, but we could also have it set up where someone does the updates, and post individual threads with pics.  That way comments and long stories would not clutter the thread.

I'm in either way

Brent, do it.  If I can be of any help, let me know.  I enjoy the read, especially posts of kids getting their first game.  Actually, for me, it's probably a jinx cause I never get to post anything :'( :'(

OK- I will do my best to just keep the numbers and caliber/ga. accurate so at the end Which I know some will be mad if I stop it too soon but Last year I thought I ended it like Feb 1st or something so most coyote and other critters could get posted.
Pete - You and I need to give the 38-55 a couple tally marks  :)  All the rest of you, c'mon get your pack straps adjusted and your hunting knives sharp.
I will start a new thread ALL H&R users are welcome to add, I will do the tally numbers and will also keep a paper tally at home but The only guns included in this tally will be H&R. If your buddies deer is in the picture by yours and used a Rossi, We are glad he scored but his deer/caliber wont be added. But yours will  ;)
OK will kick it off This week and hope every one can bump up the tally for either the underdogs or their actual favorite H&R caliber.
NOT ON THIS THREAD..... Will Start a new one. I will attempt to keep "shot" gun and rifle-slug gun numbers seperate. But I think knowing a few Pheasants and ducks and a turkey or two fell to our H&Rs will be fun to read too.
Thanks for the input gang!   thejanitor

Brent, why don't you create a template for all of us to use summing up each persons post so you don't have to wade through text to get the numbers.  Something like this:

Game:_______________________________

Rifle/Shotgun_________________________

Cal./Ga.______________________________

You can add to it any other info you may want.  I just think it might simplify things for you.

That is a good idea Pete but even when I tried to copy and paste the tally each time last year, when I typed in the new numbers it messed up the whole tally by shifting things out of order... I know you computer guys are rolling your eyes but I am not sure how the template would work ( if copied and pasted), I really liked the stories some sent in, and the pics are nice. But maybe we could post a template in one of the beginning posts and ask people to follow it if they want but also allow them to give a full hunt story if they choose.  I like the simplicity of your template for counting but I hope people still want to share a story IF they choose. Makes it more personal for those of us who like to know more about each other. But yet keeps it simple for those who just want to be counted in the tally.   Good Point Pete.  Thanks   thejanitor
