Safe 45 70 Loads
« on: February 10, 2004, 11:45:35 AM »
A question for all the 45 70 shooters on the forum. Are all factory loads in 45 70 safe in the NEF Handi Rifle? Your experience in this matter will be appreciated.

Thank You

Last I looked, no one is making Ruger or Class 3 45-70 loads for the open market. To my knowledge, limited as it is, only Garrett and Corbon make ammo for Class 2 arms or leveractions and of course the NEF.  Everything made by Federal, Remington, Winchester is made to be safe in Trapdoors. Hope this helps, JP

Riverhawk,
The only one I would question, would be Buffalo Bore. Most premium loads while being safe, aren't a pleasure to shoot, nor are they needed for the most part. The cost is also very steep. Stay with ammo under the 40,000CUP pressure range.
