Anyone using the 110gr XTP in .38 SPL standard loads?
« on: August 01, 2012, 07:50:42 AM »
Just happened on a box of these for something different...

Anyone having good target accuracy using these?

Maybe with 231 or Unique?

Any expansion at these standard .38 velocities?

Yep, I load some of these for carry ammo for the wife.  Load is 5.1 gr. Unique.  ;)  It's quite accurate out of her Charter Pink Lady and expansion per my Hornady listing is 900-1400 fps and hers are moving out around 1050 fps.

Good target accuracy, use a 148gr wadcutter, 2 1/2gr of Bullseye. They even make it any more?

I load 'em up with a case full of H110 for my Handi rifle. Accuracy is excellent and they're devastating on coyotes.

I have all these hornady XTP 110gr bullets from their rebate deal on buying gear.  I'm gonna load em up in .38s with Unique.

I think I'm gonna start with 5gr Unique, 110gr XTP, and small magnum primers.  Im gonna use magnums simply because I dont want to stock both magnums and regulars... and I only load stuff with magnum right now.  Its intended to be a regular run of the mill load.  Nothin special.  If I want big boom i'll shoot 357s or 500s, with H110.  No way I would use H110 in a .38
