Shooting Perserves in Northern Ks. and Missouri
« on: February 15, 2013, 10:05:36 AM »
;) Early in March my wife and I will be heading out to visit some relatives and friends on the east coast..I would like to stop a couple places and maybe shoot some quail or phesants on a shooting perserve..Have a new golden puppy that needs some work, and my old girl also..We will probably head south from Kearney, Neb. and hit rt. 36 in Ks. and head east to St. Joe..Then on east to the Mississippi River ..Anyone know of  perserves near our route of travel..???? I would prefer to stay off of I70 due to traffic, but could swing down that way if there are some good ones..thanks..

Wyo. Hunter, There is a good preserve east of Lawerence Kansas at a little town of Eudora on 10 highway. Look for Eckman Hunting Preserve. I have hunted on Mike Eckman`s place several times. Good flying birds. Roosters will run on you just like wild birds. He has chuckers as well as quail. Usually has good cover but don`t know about this year. I haven`t been up this year cause old black lab as gone deaf and this drought hasn`t helped I`m sure. Mike farms this ground and leaves cover and food for birds. I like to hunt in the afternoon cause the morning hunters usually leave birds and those are freebies. Anyway,Google him up and look at his web site. Let me know if you have any questions.  Dick
