Sending in a scope?
« on: October 18, 2012, 12:51:35 PM »
I have an older bushnell banner 4-12x40 AO  japan made. It is starting to get a little gray around the outside of the picture. If I send it in what are my chances of getting the same scope back and not some china scope sent to me for a replacement. I read somewhere but can't remember where, that there was a place to send your made in japan scopes for repair and returned. Thanks

if my experience with there customer service is anything like your going to get id stick it on the shelf and buy a new one. the response i got last time was that model isnt stocked anymore and if you want your old scope back send 25 bucks for shipping. they said they only warantee a scope for a year and no longer work on discontinued models. there policy must have changed lately as i sent an old scope cheif in for repairs a few years back and they sent me a new 3200 for a replacement for it free of charge.

Sounds like a lens coating or internal prism is failing, which would require
dismantling or replacement.

Bushnell will either repair yours, or send you a new model of similar specs.

Since the Banner was once the top scope, you'll probably get back a Banner
from a different manufacturing lot. If they can't do that, you might get an Elite,
which is a big upgrade.

I've dealt with them many times, since I live near and buy from their factory
outlet store, and am on a first name basis with the store manager.

A repaired, fully warranted banner like yours sells for about $80 as a refurb
in their outlet store.
