hunting with a 32/20

anyone deer hunt with a 32/20? i am going to use one this year

Use a good bullet and be weary of some with top velocities as the lil 32 is not built with hi vel in mind with todays bullet makers.

I think the 100XTP would work good maybe the newer 115g Speer for the 327 mag. Of coarse a good cast profile is another option. But as always placing the bullets surgically will be the difference between a stocked freezer or feeding the coyotes...

One of my 32020's is a stub built Handi. It uses a 303 Brit barrel and shoots 123g '39 bullets very well at pretty good velocities. (At least on paper as I haven't chrono'd it yet.) Its in my mind to shoot a deer or three with this as well. I haven't done so yet. ;)

why would you deer hunt with a squril gun?  get youself a good 30-30.

Use a good cast bullet and limit yourself to absolute surgical shot placement.  My great grandfather only owned two firearms a Stevens 12ga and a Winchester 32/20 and managed to keep his family fed.

 loaded  the 120 grain rnfp over 8.6 grains of hercules 2400 powder , shot under 2 inches at 50 yds .

I've dropped deer with 22 Hornets and neck shots. My 1894 CL is definitely not a squirrel gun. I would use XTP's in mine for deer and wouldn't think twice.

Actually in PA the .32-20 wouldn't be legal for squirrel.   PA has a caliber limit of .23 caliber for small game for center or rim fire.  But during some overlapping seasons small game is limited to shotguns, or rifles of .22caliber rimfire.    Groundhogs are exempt of the caliber restrictions, you can use a 155mm howitzer on them if you want.
