45/70 Handi muzzleloader conversion range report...
« on: October 26, 2012, 04:25:39 PM »
After getting close at 100 yds, I could never get the blue harvester sabots to tighten up. Mostly 1.5 to 2.5 inch groups knurled or unknurled. The Harvester's were just a little loose for my liking even with the knurled bullets. Enter MMP tans and knurled Barnes 195's.

Used 32 gr. VV-110. Previous chrony readings were around 2089 fps.
CCI 209M primer. MMT tan sabot.

I shot 3, liked what I saw, then seen if I could hold 5 in tight.

Sorry about the crappy target.  I shoot up bullets at a buck a pop, but I'm too cheap drive somewhere to pick up more targets.

I'm very pleased with the results. Thanks again Slufoot!

That's some fine shooting there cnymuzguy!
Just goes to show that it pays to experiment to find what they like. You now don't have any excuses for missing! :D

GOOD SHOOTING!

Here's a picture. I may not be getting to the range for a few days due to the remnants of Sandy. I really like this gun. Short, simple, easy to clean, versatile, and accurate. All for a total of $250. Whats not to like? My Savage will be for sale soon.

Why spend money on gas or targets, when you can spend it on bullets! ;) LOL! Sounds like me. ;D

Without a doubt, Slufoot does a great work, I can hit a 200 yard gong with regularity with mine.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.
