Swapping rifle for muzzleloader barrel help
« on: November 01, 2012, 02:40:27 PM »
I've got a handi chambered in .35 Whelen (fairly certain it's an SB2 frame - bought new in 2010) and I've run across a guy selling a huntsman muzzleloader barrel for a good price.  Will this barrel interchange with my rifle barrel or will I need a different forearm?  Thanks for the help.

Is the barrel from a Huntsman or a Sidekick?

It should just snap right on your frame.  The ML uses a different forearm so that the ramrod will mount, so you will have to see what kind of attachment it uses.  I think a non ML forearm will mount but will not carry the ramrod.  Larry

H&R has or had Huntsman forends in stock last time I checked a few months ago, black synthetic or gray laminate, part number is in the retail parts list in the FAQs sticky. I dunno about ramrods tho, but they should have them since they sell em with accessory barrels, I ordered a Hubbard, see the Huntsman forum sticky for that.
