What do you think of this on a T/C smokepole?

Not too taken with those mounts, seems pricey [$350], are there others?

I have a Navy Arms 32.5" 4X on my Hawken 36 barrel.   Great scope, works good and looks a bunch better than putting a "modern" rifle scope on them.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

There are (or were) a number of others who build this sort of scope, however they are all pricey.  You'll have to do your own research as my information is old and out of date.

Something else that you might try is the "tube sight": http://www.lasc.us/Brennan_MakeTubeSight.htm
Flintlock! Anything else is imitation.

These are some of the rifles I could put this 32 inch scope on:

    1. 58 Hawken 27 inch barrel
    2. 50 Hawken 26 inch barrel
    3. 50 PennHunter flint 31 inch barrel
  4. 45 Kentucky fullstock 34 inch barrel [percussion]
    5. 50 Hawken flint 26 inch barrel
    6. 50 or 54 Renegade 26 inch barrel

I think all that brass may look good on one of the Hawkens.    Hmmmmmmmmmm..........................

update: PennHunter no go due to half-round barrel
comment: The leading candidate is the 50 Hawken, lots of brass. I dont
know if I can drill & tap a pristine early barrel.
