short story made long
one of the reasons I bought this barrel was 30 years ago I bought a bulk buy of 500 30 cal.
130 hp and 500 30 cal 110 round nose of which I still had most.
as most in this sport know and I'm learning your shooting heaver than norm bullets in sometime
oddball / wildcat cartridges very little load data
which was the case for the 32-20 with heaver than 110gr. talking to a few people that shoot/shot the 32-20 using the taco hold I found that 165gr. @ about 1150mv was min. for a dependable ram load.
Digging in my reloading stuff I found about 30 165gr. hp bt and about the same in 180gr. spire point
also found that 4227 and 2400 powder was a common choice.
after testing I found 2400 give a little higher MV. with a lower charge and a little less recoil and in my case a little better accuracy using the same charge with the 110,130 165 and the 180's
now to your ?
I don't list unpublished load data but all with the same safe charge of 2400
50 chicks 110gr. @ 1320mv.
100 pigs 130gr. @ 1240mv.
150 turkeys 130gr. @ 1240mv.
200 rams 165gr. @ 1169mv.
I also shot this gun in freestyle production
and shot the 180gr. @ rams what is some what interesting is with same charge the mv. of the 180gr. was a little more than the 165. and you could tell the difference in the sound of the hits
and I think the 180 will become my rams load
and when the 110 and 130 are gone
I thinking 130 or 150 for every thing else
