contender forend ??
« on: November 17, 2012, 09:26:38 AM »
I've got a 7-30 Waters rifle that shoot good with the rest close to the hinge, but with a bipod or any other place on the forend it shoots like crap. It's a wood forend with brass washers for float. is there anything I can do to make it better. I'm willing to change to a different type of forend. In the field I'm not sure I'll be able to always get the right "rest".
Thanks.

If i were you, id go with a hanger bar forend. The brass washers compress and the screw tension must be constant, which it won't with the washes. I had luck with faucet washers and longer screws when a 223 was being stubborn. You might have to drill new holes in your forend but i believe the hanger bar will allow your barrel to vibrate consistently.
