Which way to go.. blue or stainless?
« on: September 15, 2011, 03:36:24 PM »
Which is the way to go for SA revolvers? Why?

Is blue more "authentic?" Easier to clean stainless? Which is the way to go?

My personal opinion is Blue, it is more traditional but there were plated SAA's as well.  I see mostly blue at our matches.  What do your Like ?

In my humble opinion, blue just looks better than stainless.

I favor the looks of a blued single action revolver.  C&B or cartidge, blue is the way to go.  Some were originally plated but plating has a way of being blown off the gun.  Stainless, well my S&Ws look okay in stainless but they look better when blued.

Dont bother much trying to actually use stainless (or nickel plated) sights. IMHO, only good for point & pull. Now if it has black sights you are OK, but can still get some nasty glare off a polished, rather than matt, finish.
