Ruger factory work needed
« on: April 03, 2004, 03:50:13 AM »
I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum that need a bit of work done.  A couple of years ago I took it to a gunsmith to have it's 10 inch barrel cut to 6 1/2 inches.  Well they cut it to 5 1/2 inches and installed the front sight crooked.  Now the rear sight has to be all the way to the left.   I have put probably 50 pounds of lead thru it and the rear sight has developed a bit of looseness.  If  I sent it in too Ruger would they reinstall a 10 inch barrel or would they let me have a 71/2 inch barrel?  When you return the gun to the factory will they only return it to original configuration?

The Ruger factory will install a factory 7 1/2" barrel.  They will install any barrel length that is a factory standard.  Go on their web sight, e-mail the shop with all the work you need completed and they will be able to give you a price.  Send the gun and wait.  You will have to pay for a re-blue.  P.S.  I hope you let the "gunsmith" that destroyed a good barrel know exactly how pleased you were with his work!  Send him a copy of the receipt from Ruger and ask him to reinburse you.  He won't but I'd do it anyway.  Good luck............Mike

I would call Bowen Classic Arms before I send it off to Ruger.
Their Standard Issue Package installs a rear and front sight and includes a trigger job for $250.00. There is a lot of other stuff they do to make your Ruger into a much better gun than Ruger will ever do for you.

I'd call Ruger and ask what they would do.  I've always beenpleased when I call sustomer service.  They are one of the few companies that has a person answer the phone.
