Playing board games
« on: November 07, 2012, 03:13:26 PM »
I will bet that at one time or another, most people here have played monopoly. Probably with family, kids, friends.  If you will remember back, there were always a couple that no one would play with. They were just turds. They always won, and when they did they made sure you always were reminded of it. It became boring, it was no fun. So you refused to play.
Once someone got a hotel on Boardwalk, or even Marvin Gardens or Pacific Ave, just a matter of time, and not long. Once that happened, the game usually just folded, no point in it. You just shuffled the cards and started a new game.
When everyone had property, and no one would sell out, there were no monopolies. No one could buy houses or hotels. The game went on, and on... eventually people did get tired and call the game. BUT, they usually would play again, because they MIGHT win next time. Occasionally somebody would get lucky and win, but they did not get bored, and they did not get discouraged, they thought they had a chance.
We are now to the point where there are hotels going up. Do you want to do some restructuring so the game can go on? Or do you want us to just say screw it and fold up the board ? If we do, you not only don't win, you won't be playing in the next round.
Or, you can be satisfied with being ahead, and not stepping on the other players. Either way, THIS game will have to be modified, or it IS over. Your call. We may be playing chicken next time.........
