223 Winchester Power Point question

The mfg. states that this bullet is intended for 1 in 9 or 1 in 7 twist barrels.  They say the slower twists might not stabilize the bullet.  Any experience.  I have a full box and just wondering what you guys experience is with this.

Are you referring to the White Box 45 grain PSP's at 3600 fps??? If so, it doesn't make sense that it would take a 1:7 or 1:9 twist to stabilize... I am sure they would stabilize fine with a 1:12.

If it's a 62 grain bullet, then that is correct.  The 1 in 12 twist works fine for bullet weights 55 grains or lower.

The Win 64gr PP ammo and bullets work fine in the 1:12" Handi, lots of reports on it over the years on it's effectiveness on deer from Handis. The bullet itself is rather short for it's weight which makes for easy stailization in the slower twist.  ;)

Thanks for the link.  It doesn't fit into conventional wisdom, regarding 62gr (longer bullets) not stabilizing well in a 1 in 12 twist barrel.  Now I see why.

The 63gr Sierra Varminter #1370 is another bullet that falls in that "over 55gr but still good for 1:12" twist"  group, as is the 60gr Nosler partition.  ;)

I agree... the 60 grain Hornady V-Max shot great out of our 1:12 barrels (but the 55 V-Max had an edge)... I have since sold them in favor of the 1:9's (which incidentally shoot great with the same load... but also with the Hornady 68 gr BTHP... which our 1:12's threw "all over the place!").

I don't know about the twist ,but they are  the "best" factory rounds for deer hunting out there
