best food lot seed

I've got 20ac. with woods all around. Was wondering what was on your mind as far as what to plant in a few 1/2ac plots? I looked at biologic and they don''t list what the seed is.  There is alot of state land around me. Any ideas?

What time of year?To late here in OK to plant now.I've tried several different "blends"I've had some grow some not.some of the ones that grew looked great but the deer would'nt touch it so whats the point?Now I've gone to 2 plantings a year.In the spring I plant straight soybeans(a couple of years ago I planted a mix with soybeans,cow peas,and milo.The deer ate the soy to the ground and ignored the rest hence the straight soy planting.)I till it up the end of august and plant wheat. And do the same the next year,works well for me.SGB

Tried Biologic first time this year & was pleased with it.  The deer devastated it. I got my sack of seed from wally world & had no problem finding the seed
type list. Could be we have different blends. Pennington Seed Co. has a blend that is the same as Biologic  called Rack Master it's in an orange bag & the seed is coated with GermMax a powder they use to accelerate the germination process & is also poison to birds so they won't eat it all up.
All I did was rake back the pine straw & leaves run one of them little Mantis tillers back & forth a couple of times scattered seed & waited for rain.  In no time I had a fine little food plot. Just my 2 cents

This year I planted about 1/2 acre....I planted a mix...of winter wheat
and rye and white ladino clover...I live in NC  planted about the 10th
of September...I first cut the area with a lawn mower...fertilized and
limed (about 50lbs 17-17-17 and about 120lbs lime) I didn't take
time for a soil test...and then disked the area....and seeded that
day...it rained that evening....about 4 weeks later the deer were
using....I watched 10-25 deer use all gun season (mid Nov-Jan 1st)
I plan to fertilize and lime about March 1st....the clover should come
back for about 5 years...it should be cut 3-4 times a year...and next
fall I plan to reseed with wheat and rye....I bought the seed from
local seed dealer (Southern States)...I've tried some of the blends
for deer...but this worked well...for less money...if you have enough
land for a summer crop...its hard to beat soybeans in an adjacent
area...flintlock
