Sons first handgun kills.
« on: November 06, 2012, 01:39:09 PM »
Took my 14 year old son scouting with me this afternoon.  On the way home we saw two coons one climbed a tree and looked down at us.  I handed Hunter my .44 SBH and told him to shoot it.  One shot and down it fell.  He walked into the woods where he saw the other one go and a few minutes later I heard him shoot again.  Two shot and two less corn thieves.   He handled the gun well and wants to shoot a hog with it.  Think I'm going to get him a single six for Christmas.

you must of been proud. my son likes to hunt but he is all about scoped rifles. i sure would like to see him become that good with a handgun.

by all means encourage your son with a nice  pistol he can call his own! if he really gets into it you mite look into casting and reloading for the 44.shoot for pennies a round.

That's awesome !
My son has been watching me shoot my encore 257 roberts pistol and he said he wants one. Thinking of doing a sp savage striker build with him and when we are done with it I will give it to him.

Your kid will love that gift.

Good for him.

I hope dad explained to him the dangers of shooting into the air with big bore handguns tho.

Think I'm going to get him a single six for Christmas. He will love it. I still have mine that my father gave me. Great little guns. Mine is a convertable with a 6.5 inch barrel. That old 40 grain Winchester jacketed HP is still one of my favorite loads in the .22 Magnum.
