No preaching today. THe American flag and Christian flag were flown. We pledged to our flag, then to the Church, then again to Gods Holy Bible. The flags were marched down the aislei in a touching ceremony. The piano player played the anthem for each branch od service, Army, Air force, Marines, Navy, coast guard, and Natl guard, and the various women who helped the war effort, don't think I left anybody out. Vets were asked to stand to be recognized one branch at a time as we applauded and saluted them.
There were several good testimonies from vets and their families. We had several WW11 vets too, it gave me quite a feeling of pride just being there.
I told about the minutes from my Gmas Church in Ill during WW11. Several letters from members from different parts of the war. Several in France telling about burrowing under the snow to keep from freezing to death and others in very hard conditions.
Another was where Gmas Pastor asked a woman to take over Sunday school, she refused. She said she didn't feel it proper for a woman to teach the Bible and that it should go to a man. The pastor pointed out that there was not ONE man left, besides himself, in the whole Church. She said she would accept til the men came home. Not all of them did. POWDERMAN.
