First Freedom Arms
« on: November 17, 2012, 07:42:22 AM »
I've bought, sold, and traded so many guns, I don't get too excited anymore, but I am absolutely goofy about the premier grade Model 83 454 Casull I just picked up.  I feel the same way I did when I got my first Weatherby.  I got it used for a Ruger No. 1 and some cash thrown in. It's in 98%,so I am happy that it looks nice and that I got a decent deal.  I also got a holster, 98rds 454 ammo, and scope mount and rings. Can't wait to shoot it!

Nice!  I really like my FA 454.  The truth is it's all the gun you need to hunt in North America ( or the Earth for that matter ) If you reload you will like it even more as you can easily go from midrange 44 mag power to all you can handle.  Order a green fiber optic front sight and give that a try before you scope it -- you may be surprised at how well you can shoot!

I bought mine a few months ago. It was used, but in new condition. I have been shooting .44 mag equivalent loads, and some 260 gr hard cast loads with less that max charges. I did set up on a bench a few weeks ago and was shooting 4" at 100 yards with the heavy loads. I was impressed. I have long wanted one of these guns, and can see already that one will not be enough. I am looking at a .22 next.

One is definitely not enough, and a .22 would be a great addition.  I'm currently saving ( when possible) for a single shot.

Update: if you are looking for a FA .22, this guy is culling his collection and has one for sale.
