Aren't field of view importante any more? My impression is that many new scopes have a low field of view.

I used to buy a scope with the widest field of view in it's class. Now I don't worry about it as much. I've found if I mount my scopes so I'm looking through them naturally when I mount my rifles a smaller field of view isn't a handicap. I've found mounting my scopes as low as I can may not be the best fit fo me. On some rifles medium height rings are better for me even if I don't need the clearance.
