.45 Colt is a great one if you like the big bores.  .44 mag barrels also.  .357 whether reamed to maxi or left regular is a great round also.  I left the wife's .357 std. and load 110 gr. XTP 's and a book load of H110.  Not much more kick than a .22 mag and a lotta punch.  ;)

An observation, you have a medium and heavy, you need a light. I would suggest you look for a Hornet, or second, a 357 mag. If you could find a Trapper 357 to go with the BC you would have both ends boxed.  ;) You can then fill in the blanks.

True.  A .223 would be a good one.  Mine shoots groups like this w/ my reloads and barely bigger with factory.  8)

Ditto on the Hornet or 357, since you got the two favorite rimmed.  All are cheap reloadable.

Welcome to the club! A month ago I had one rifle, a Buffalo Classic. Now I have a Classic Carbine, a .223 that also came with .44 Mag and 12 gauge barrels, I bought another frame from the classifieds and I'm bidding on two rifles on Guns-make-me-broker (Gunbroker). There is no cure for the disease, you can only alleviate the symptoms by buying another Handi. Good luck!
I have more guns than I need, but not as many as I want.

ok you guys scare me! i was thinkin and i don't do it often, that the 357 was an option especially after reading on here that the accuracy was as good or better with 38 and 357 loads after reaming for 357 max.here is the problem.i have 44mag super blackhawk with marlin 1894 have used both for deer .with excellent results.then since i have horses i got into mounted shooting so had to have 2 45colt single actions bought taurus and really like them.so of course had to have a rifle , along came a rossi lever action.haven't got to use them on deer yet .see the problem ,,,one just leads to another. i think i need a tractor gun.maybe a shorty 357 straight grip stock manlicher forearm ,peep sight and it might look good in camo laminate!or walnut with brass trigger guard.it just doesn't stop!!!!

Contrary to whats been said you don't have to have every caliber to be a member.  However, I've almost been banned several times for not having a .45-70 but have managed to save myself so far by waving my .30-30 around.  The reason for the absence of a .45-70 is that a .444 came along used for a really good price and I believe in Louisiana the two are interchangable.  Either way you're safe with your .45-70 so welcome to the forum.

I will echo the 223.  But it's just a gateway caliber.  Pretty soon you will be sending a rifle back to the factory for a few accessory barrels.  But it won't be enough.  You will be scouring gunbroker for an old topper 30-30.  Still you will crave more.  You will be refreshing the classifieds 20 times a day hoping for a 35 Remington barrel.  You will move on to stubbed barrels.  People will see you fondling 405 Winchester brass........

My advice is to sell the Handi immediately, go to WalMart and buy a mossberg 30-06, and keep telling yourself "this is all the gun I will ever need" when those Handi cravings hit you.  It doesn't end well.  I know.

well after looking at what yall are saying i thought about my problem and have decided the best thing is to just start looking for the next one.like i said maybe a 357 to max conversion.however i am also thinkin a 300 whisper/blackout whatever you want to call it.a buddy already has a reamer!also kinda like the 256 win mag.barrel stubbing is an easy option friend that has the reamer is a gunsmith with a lathe and mill,or i have lathes at work

You have .30 caliber and .45 caliber covered... you need a .22 caliber centerfire... you NEED a .223! Find a superlight and for now don't worry about a Hornet, you can download your .223 (Trailboss - subsonic) if need be... although we love our Hornets. No offense to the .357 recommendations, but with the .30/30 in the bag, there are other calibers more pressing.

I put in my vote for a .223 or a .308 but a .22 WMR is good also but then again there's the .30-06 which is close to a .270 that's a good one as well as the .280 rem which reminds me of the .35 rem which is also like a .35 Whelen... See it's a sickness lol you cant go wrong cause eventually you'll want every caliber they have seriously though the .280 rem and the .35 Whelen are some of my favorite calibers

Grab a Hornet before they are all gone - I understand that they have been discontinued.  Still listed in the accessory barrel program, for now at least, but I'd suggest grabbing one pretty quick.  I'd also suggest reaming it to a K hornet.  I suspect the 223 will be around for a while if you find you want a higher power 22 centerfire later on.
