case trimmers

i need to buy a case trimmer i'm going to start loading a few wildcats and need to get something else than the lee trimmers i now use i've been looking at a few different ones a couple of them turn the case instead of the cutter is there a advanage to one or the other any recomendations? thanks

I use the Forster's , I like being able to ajust them for whatever case I'm running at the time , I also like that it can be used with a Batt. Drill to speed up the process .

I also have used and like the Fosters... Back when I bought my first Herrett I invested in a Lyman Power trimmer...

If you have allot to trim or are making cases, you will VERY MUCH appreciate the power trimmer.

but i think i use the lee about as much also

I've got a Lyman that hardly gets used. Lee trimmers work for me. I know Lee used to custom make trimmers if you sent them a couple of cases. They made me one for my 8 mag.

i do like the lee trimmers maybe i'll call them on monday and see if hey still make custom pilots i didn't think till you said they made you a pilot also i know a master machenist maybe i can talk him into makeing me one

This is the Forster trimmer I use with my drill press when needing to remove a lot of brass in necks. I still use My RCBS "hand crank" to get down to thousandth's. Here's the URL with complete details:

I just don't quite trust the accuracy of the stops on my drill press for the final product.

I use a Forster classic trimmer for small batches and for setting the "template" case for large batches.  The large batches I do on the Forster trimmer on the drill press shown above.  I use the case that I trimmed to the desired length on the manual trimmer to set the depth stop on the drill press.  Set up that way, I get less than 0.001" variation in case length.  I added a 3-way cutter to the power trimmer to make things that much quicker by saving the need to chamfer and deburr.  I've processed thousands of .223 cases like this over the last couple of years.

It is easy for a machinist to make you a pilot--I use Forester and Lee trimmers-- use the Lee more than the Forester. I have made my own pilots for both the Lee and the Forester. If the machinist doesn't reload--take him a few pieces of your brass for him to fit the pilot to, it needs to be a few thousands smaller than the bullet size to work.
