Gun belt set up?

What's the most common gun belt set up for CAS?

I will make my own rig, but I hate leather work and only want to do one rig, one for maybe Frontiersman class and will use the same belt for shooting around the house.

I realy like double cross draw type rigs.  Is that alowable for CAS?

Nice thing about CAS is you can pretty much set up your holsters any way you want.  I have strong side and cross draw--this requires the Cross-Draw Shuffle when I draw my cross draw gun.  My brother, with his brand new hip can't do this twist so he has two strong sides.  

The double cross draw would work but you would have to do the Shuffle each time you draw.  It's OK to do this but some feel it slows you down.  At my age and skill level that's not a problem--am slow on my best days.

Click on some of the club websites and take a look at their pictures.  This will give you an idea of what's out there.

If you really don't like to do the leather work, don't.  The cost of hide leather is high enough that your savings are minimal if you go with a quality but simple rig.  Ask and you will get more advice on a saddlery than you can shake a stick at.

In general, a double cross draw is a DQ waiting to happen.  As CR stated you will have to do a double shuffle AND you will have to finish holstering the one and then reverse BEFORE you and start drawing the other.  I know it sounds complicated, but it's just following the 170 degree rule.  You can use a cavalry draw with two cross draw holsters and not have to twist, you just have to practice.  

The main thing is borrow and test and then buy and enjoy.  You won't find a more generous bunch of folks, than CAShooters.

Uhh, I forgot to mention that I have a good quanity of vegitable tan leather in everything from 12 to 5-6 once, including some 1-2 once, I'm a part time knife maker.  Sheaths are the one aspect I detest about knife making.  Don't realy mind leather work, it's just I hate hand stitching everything, to cheap to buy a sewing machine, and hand stitching is stronger than machine.

When I was refering to double cross draw, I was envisioning using one gun in one hand, then holster that gun and draw opisit gun with opisit hand.  I'm only slightly better with my right hand, and shoot rifles left handed.  Thats one of the reasons I chose an 1885 high wall over a sharps when I went looking for a 45-70, hammer's in the center.

I'm going to my first shoot next weekend so I'll have a better idea of what is needed and such.  I'm realy looking forward to it.
