Different parts of the country say things different, in Tennessee the w in Jowl is pronounced. And the side meat and pork belly bacon you buy at the country stores has the rind on it. Side meat bacon comes from the back area and has 15% fat content, the Pork Belly bacon comes from the belly area and has 60% fat content. I'm a heart patient and look into these things. Fat is cholesterol. I have to limit my intake.
I see it in Safeway all the time. Not under the name brands like Hormel, Oscar Meyer, or Farmland. But the brands that sell it in the larger (3#) bulk packages.
The wife won't buy the bacon with rind on it. When I go to the store and bring it home she throws a fit, refusing to cook it. That's why I buy it, I want to cook it my way.
