Comeup for 1000 yards
« on: February 12, 2004, 05:12:49 AM »
I have an opportunity to try 1000 yard competition. This will be with iron sights, prone. I don't want to slow things down trying to get on paper. I have a computer ballistic chart for my load. Can someone refresh my memory about how to get an approximate sight setting by shooting at 100 yards? Many thanks.

SOP is to come up 2MOA from 100-200 yards. 3MOA from 200 to 300 yards. 11MOA from 300 to 600 yards. 8MOA from 600 to 800 yards. 6MOA from 800 to 900 yards. 6MOA from 900 to 1000 yards. This is for a "normal" .308 using the 175SIE BTHP , if there is such a thing.

I know that if I draw a horizontal line 33" above the center of the target at 100 yards and dial in on it as I aim for center bull using my Palma rifle using 155's at 2950fps, it will put me solidly in the aiming black at 1000 yards.
