Modern ships, tanks, and planes are so expensive because they are suppose to have the technology to be "force multipliers".

Not exactly the same but this is the attitude that caused our military to go into Iraq under armed and unprepared.
It caused at least a thousand more deaths there than necessary.

If you have read any professional military journals on-line, one major concern with the F-22 i,s if an enemy uses a nuclear air-to-air missile it can detonate miles away and wipe out the F-22s digital system.

If that is the case then we should just be building big bunches of very generic inexpensive stuff.
