Davis Side by Side muzzleloader???
« on: November 24, 2012, 10:45:45 AM »
Hello,
I recently picked up a wall hanger from a man that was strapped for cash and he had no interest in his grandfathers old gun. I've never owned a muzzleloader but I am starting to become very interested in them after doing research on this old piece. Here are the features that I can list for now:
2 triggers, side by side barrels, 2 hammers, roughly 30" barrel, no visible markings/numbers on the barrels what so ever, The but of the stock appears to be buffalo horn and has a "Davis" emblem. The forearm removes by sliding forward...not pulling off in a downward motion, The rod lays underneath and center of both barrels with 3 grooves into the end. The number 32 is the only thing i can find stamped into steel and it was beneath the forearm in the left hand barrel. It is definitely old and original. The surface of the barrel is nice and smooth so I am not sure if it is damascus or not. Any ideas on how old or if it could be worth anything? Hopefully i can post a few pics soon.
Thanks,
Andy
