Does anyone have any favorite sources for heavy wall DOM or other suitable tubing? Either in "golf ball" or "beer-can" size?

My favorite supplier is to deal with a local machine shop that gives me their discount (based on annual tonnage) from one of the steel vendors. Other choices are generic suppliers (like Wicks - aircraft materials). I'll see if I can find a web site and an 800 #. Transprotation is an issue, so you'll likely want to find a vendor close by.

The local Machine shop is my first choice also. they will often have left over pieces that will work for our hobby.

But if they don't have a piece of what you need you can order it from this website.

I have used their services before. They offer small orders. A little more expensive but convenient.

You might also try www.asapsource.com I have not used there service but did talk with them at a hobby metal workers show last year. they seemed like nice people.

Seamless mechanical tubing is what is used for cannon tube lining.That is what Ash and Paulsons was using a few years ago. I relined a old Dixie tube years ago.Had to bore out the old 1/4 in cast in place liner and installed a new 3/8 wall one. Breech was 1 caliber thick. 1/4 bore radius on face of breech. Chanfered breech and tube and welded. Breech was a .002 shrink fit. On rifled tubes 3 holed are drilled and taped in face of tube/liner to act as keys.Not required on smothbore guns.But I did anyway. Liner is epoxied into barrel. Vent is a large bolt drilled into barrel but only 1/2 way through liner.[acts as another key] I got pics here.I need to scan them some time.

Hello, I don't have any connection with this outfit and only have their telephone number. My friend who is a bridge building contractor gave me this along with a few sheets of information on their steel tubing. They have it in any size you want and any thickness wall or any size bore.
It might be expensive and I don't know what quantity they will ship but it
may be worth a call to their 800 number....
