I live in the North Central Midwest between Wisconsin and Lake Superior, not many people around here hunt squirrels as they do South of here but they are tasty. Coons are considered varmits and are a real nuisance around town. Their furs have commercial value and they are commonly trapped for that. I have never eaten coon but people do.
On average about 75-80 thousand(thats right!) Whitetail deer are hit by vehicles in the state of Michigan alone, mostly by big semi rigs on the interstate highways at night, but many by passenger vehicles. The state deer herd is about 1,000,000. What a waste of good venison!
I'm not familiar with Feral cats. We have Bobcats and Cougar. The cougars are protected here, Bobcats are hunted or trapped for their fur.
