Mr. Cuomo, speaking on WGDJ-AM, said gun control had not recently been among the most discussed topics in the capital, so he had reached out to lawmakers to gauge where they stood before he made his proposals final.
He added that he was focusing his attention on changing state laws restricting the possession of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. The governor described the state’s existing ban on those items as having “more holes than Swiss cheese.”
“I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting,’ ” he said. At the same time, he noted that he owns a shotgun that he has used for hunting, and said, “There is a balance here — I understand the rights of gun owners; I understand the rights of hunters.”
In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose, but, while discussing assault weapons, he said: “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

The Second Amendment has absolutely NOTHING to do with hunting. It has EVERYTHING to do with RESTRICTING THE GOVERNMENT. Read what Thomas Jefferson said about the Second Amendment.

I wonder where Cuomo read about any rights of hunters? Don't think I've ever read anything in the Constitution about hunters rights. I figure Cuomo doesn't have a clue about much of anything, then again probably neither does the people that voted for him. Cuomo is just another Marxist among many, who wants to not just ban AR style rifles, but also confiscate them. We are going to pay for what we have voted for. Wonder what ever happened to keeping his end of the bargain of upholding the Constitution, that he swore to uphold.

I think there was a couple other guys awhile back, that confiscated guns in the name of keeping people safe. The outcome was a whole bunch of dead people by the hands of the ones that were going to make them safe.

Oh please, cuomo is just another commie gun grabber who laps the spittle of socialista scum like bloomberg, schumer, feinstein and klinton.  Did you forget who his socio-commie father is and what kid cuomo's personal experience is in driving the British owned Smith and Wesson over the brink into insolvency while he was head of hud?

The guy is nothing more than another commie, period, and I really do not give a squat as to how many opine that communism is s'poda be dead- it is very much alive here in nys and in the US.  Confiscation maeans that if you are caught withit and do not have your 'papers' that prove you bought it before 1994, it is conficated and you go to jail.  Mandatory sale to the state means that they are illegal and you can get $25 for your $1,000 semi-automatic, or you can go to jail.  Permittingis a option, which means that they know who you are and where you live and can come get your guns anytime they want - that is no option.

If he calls for confiscation I say the war is on and we confiscate all the police weapons we can lay our hands on until we are well enough armed to provide for our own defense and let the cops keep eating doughnuts.  If he calls for mandatory sale to the state - same same, we make it mandatory that all cops turn over all their firearms for public ownership and use and if the state wants them back, they can buy them back....  Permitting - we will give the cops a permit to arm themselves in their own defense as long as we want our taxes to maintain a paid police force, after that they are just plain old citizens.

How's that for a twist on politics....

+1 8)    Hunting back then was for food. You didn't hunt! You didn't eat! I don't believe pita was around back then.
