Need Help! Ithaca Jamming
« on: December 07, 2012, 05:58:26 PM »
Hello, I have an Ithaca 37 that I got in 1977? . it has been very well kept and not abused. I have Deerslayer barrel for it and recently (i know twice) when shooting 1 oz remmington sluggers it has taken considerable force to cycle the pump. After that it cycles fine. Any thoughts??????..thanks Mack

Because 37 loads and ejects thru the same  port in the receiver there is little leverage (cam force)for extraction/ejection. I have noticed over the years a large number of 37's with rusty chambers. Don't know why but that certainly will cause exraction difficulty and even extraction/ejection failures. Steel wool wrapped around a bristle brush and spun in the chamber using a drill will polish/burnish the chamber smooth... Good luck with this great old gun..
