The way I have started setting my dies for the Contender pretty much echo what everyone else is doing. I just do it a bit differently. I use the barrel as a case guage. After firing brass in my chamber, I leave the expander stem out of the die, and keep screwing the die in, and resizing the case, until almost all the neck portion is sized. Then I try the case in the chamber, using the unmounted barrel for a guage. Usually the case will sit about .002-.003" high. I keep going down on the die until the case just fits flush with the end of the barrel, and lock the die off there. Then reinstall the expander assembly, and try again. Sometimes you will have to screw the die down 1/8 of a turn more, to account for stretching as the case is pulled over the expander. This method works for me, and has eliminated any misfires, esp. in the 7TCU, which I had trouble with. Hope it helps.................Bug.
