12 ga. shotgun/.50 cal. rifle combo?
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:59:56 PM »
I'm checking for an acquaintance who wants it for turkey/deer, and I'm not familiar with the in-line options.

It looks like the Encore is a possibility, but I'm not sure my buddy will like the price.
I couldn't find much for CVA or Traditions, and it seems like Knight has the shotgun but not in a combo.

Are there combos available other than Encore?

It looks like he might be money ahead to buy the Knight shotgun and a separate rifle.

Any input?

Thanks!

the thompson-center system 1 is an inline with interchangable barrels with options rangin' from 32cal to 12ga. ya can find'em on gunbroker for reasonable prices & sometimes in package deals with several barrels. luck to ya & have a good'en, bubba.

also, if it doesn't absolutely hafta be an inline, there's a new englander on gunbroker with rifle & 12ga barrel. price is probably about what a used encore with just one barrel would cost. been relisted a couple times with no bids. don't recall right off if the rifle barrel is 50 or 54 cal.

Had to comment on the system 1 from T/C. At one time they had a conversion kit that allowed use of 209 primers (209 primer screwed in just like a #11 or musket cap nipple). I wanted to try Blackhorn 209 and knew that it should not ignite BH209. Drilled the primer with a 1/16" bit and loaded with 80grs and a .490 patched RB. Guess what- 14 shots with no swabbing, perfect ignition every time!
Sorry to steal this thread, but thought this might make the system 1 even more versatile then ever. Next test will be with the 12 ga. and the 54
