Conteder Carbine 6.8 SPC

I bought a stainless 6.8 spc barrel to deer/hog hunt with.  It is super accurate, 3/4" at 100 yds.  I took my first deer with it Satuday.  It was about 60 yds.  I shoot the hornady 120 gr. SST.  Complete pass through on both shoulders. It did not go far! This is such a light handy rifle, I believe it will become my goto gun.

What is the recoil like in that rifle and how long is the barrel and rifle weight.

The recoil is very mild, less than my 7-08 Savage Sierra.  The barrel is 23" standard TC contour.  I have not weighed the rifle.

I have a 24" MGM, deadly accurate and very light recoil this is my go to gun for kids several of my buddies kids have shot deer with it out to 200 yards and never went anywhere, most dropped on the spot. I was using the 110 grain Hornady but thought it was to light went to the barnes and have had great results.

I put together a s/s 23" 6.8SPC Contender barrel this year dropped a small 2X3 blacktail deer with it loaded with 95gr TTSX @ 2960fps I am using AA2200 powder.
 
I just bought a box of the 120gr SST's to try out bewen using 110gr Sierra Prohunters but have heard good thing about these SST's.
 
What powder are you using?

I have shot two deer with my 6.8 and both dropped on the spot using 130 grain ballistic tips.

I am using the Hornady factory loads.  I reload but haven't tried developing a handload for this rifle yet.

I don't have a Contender barrel in 6.8 but got my son one of the Rem 700's chambered for it. We have found it hard to find a bad load with H322 and SSA brass. Some of that brass is on the 6th loading and I've been real happy with it. In my son's rifle, the Sierra 90 is a real shooter, the 110 Hornady VMAX right behind it. A very pleasant cartridge. I have a carbine length 7TCU barrel, a couple molds and a bucket of brass so didn't really see the need to get myself a 6.8 barrel but from all I've heard, folks are real happy with that chambering in the Contender.
