It's again very sad that when teachers go on strike or any  other news that shows teachers as the bad guys , this board is full of anti teacher posts. Sad that no one has made any positive  comments about how these teachers were heroes. I'm convinced it's alot easier for many here to criticize than to give praise. That way of thinking truly sickens me.

Well! You certainly opened up a can of worms by flaming you own thread!
I haven't see anyone attacking teachers on here.I see several teachers who were in my eyes and others.....TRUE hero's. I agree it has nothing to do with occupation. It is about the character. of the individual. Some of these (PEOPLE) thought first of themselves, while some "including the hero's" thought about the children first. Not a teacher thing.........A human nature thing.

If this turns into a pro teacher, anti teacher topic, I'll be obliged to close it.

.[/color] Exactly -they are caring people . - Thanks for supporting my point of view. .

No problem.
I think everyone can see that these three women are true heros.
And we can't class them with the  teachers that only thought about themselves when the shooting started.

I don't think it is pro teacher or anti teacher statements so much as it's the communities value statement, We as communities need  to openly recognize we place huge responsibilities and trust in our teachers. . They have demonstrated time and time again willingness to place themselves in harms way to protect and shield our children from evil and willingness to pay the ultimate price to protect innocents we place in their charge.  I do believe and we should all remember this in our own individual communities when passing Education budgets.

Perhaps it's just too raw and too soon to revist some of these policy discussions. for the record. In previous threads (during Wisconsin union debates and others )there were many many derogatory teacher statements (no further discussions needed here,  but feel free to go back a read the old posts).

Perhaps later on we can revisit and have further open discussions regarding our attitudes about Values , benefits , and compensation.

I see the confusion as to why some understood what I was trying to say and others didn't. By here, I didn't mean this thread. I meant  here as in  GB and my point was ;to classify ALL teachers as not caring just isn't true.  It really doesn't matter anymore. As Anna pointed out- the true  meaning was lost many comments ago. I'm glad several understood what I was trying to say. I'll stop there.
