Talley fixed or Warne Maxima?
« on: February 12, 2004, 01:47:25 AM »
Feedback wanted on these 2 base/ring setups. Looking for a setup for my HS Sporter which uses 8-40 screws(6-48 is the std). These are the only 2 I have found that can accomodate. The only drawback to the Talleys as I see it is the shiny blued finish. No big deal. The Maxima rings secure to a weaver style base. Thanks!

I have five sets of Maxima bases/rings on muzzleloaders. I REALLY like them.  Changing scopes and removing scopes for cleaning was never easier.  They are quality made and they DO hold their zero as advertised.

I would agree with 6x6.  I have the Warnes on a couple of heavy recoilers and haven't seen a problem.  The always return to zero after removal.
