Cast lead semi-wadcutter bullets in a Sig-220
« on: May 31, 2004, 02:39:50 AM »
Somewhere I read that Sig does not reccommend cast lead bullets be used in a Sig handgun.
Have any of you used cast lead semi-wadcutter in your SIG?
Why the restriction?

The reason I want to use cast lead semi-wad-cutter bullets is that I cast bullets and some of the best results for the 45 ACP in Bullseye competition are with that bullet.

Swifty,

I've put close to 3K of cast SWCs through my 220ST without a hitch. I believe that SIG also advises against reloads, so it might be a liability thing. Mine feeds the SWCs very, very reliably, I'd say more so than my Colt 1911. The only problem is that my SIG seems to lead some. I run a couple of mags of JHPs through it after every practice session, and it cleans up nicely after that.

My 220ST has quickly become my favorite handgun.

I also have put K's of 230 swc through my P220 without a jam, and It shoots to point of aim, and  in small groups!
