Rem Model Seven's ever come W/blind mag?
« on: December 14, 2012, 04:34:08 PM »
Bought a Remington Model seven, didn't realize 'till after the auction that there was no floorplate....doh!
Did Remington Model seven's ever come in blind magazine?

Hoping it's not a single shot meant for target.

Can't say for sure none got out that way but I've sure never seen one. Perhaps it's an after market stock.

What is the serial number?  Be interesting to see if it is a very early model.

I have one of the very early ones and it is not a blind magazine. It is from the first year the 7-08 was added.

I believe they made them that way with the less than higher quality stocks, It seems to me that the youth models from the factory came that way.  Jim

Can't really tell for sure, but in the auction photo there almost seems to be an outline where the well may be filled in.
I will find out for sure in the next few days when I pick it up.

FYI:
Got the rifle, it has a Bell and Carson butt pad on it so assuming it's a Bell and Carson "Carbilite?" stock (has checkering, 5092 I think) extensively modified with pillar beadding. And yes the mag well has been filled-but it has a blind mag, so is a repeater....whew.
Has an aftermarket 21" SS barrel .75" at muzzle with a "HGW" marking. Best I can find, it's Hoosier Gun Works barrel, but the only aftermarket barrels they post are for Mauser actions. If anyone is familiar with these markings could you let me know?
Thanks
