30 Herrett
« on: February 20, 2004, 10:20:09 AM »
Shot my 30 Herrett today. I was very impressed. Especially with the 90gr XTP's. This caliber hits very hard with all the bullets I tried today. Shot it with open sights to start. Wanted to see how it would perform before bothering to put a scope on it. I did have it fly open twice. I know everyone says how critical sizing is. I did not "snap" it shut those two times. After that It was fine. Large throat on it though. I may have to get a custom barrel.
I was always nervous about getting a Herrett or a TCU(Ihave a 6TCU VV), but they are pretty good performers and easy to make. I bought EABCO brass already made up. Scope maybe next week, if I have the time.

Moe, Welcome to the Herret cult.  You,ll love it.  I usually shoot 110's, never tried anything under the 100 half jackets.  I've shot ground hogs with the Speer 110HP and completly decapitate'm. Of course you know, now you'll have to get the 357H. GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :)   :)
oopps..forgot...I just got a hold of some 110Vmax's but haven't had a chance to try'm.  They should be sometin'.
