Anybody use Paco Kelly's Acurizer tool?
« on: February 17, 2004, 08:30:14 AM »
I have one on the way, I was wondering if anyone has used it yet. Supposedly it will make el-cheapo bulk bullets into harder hitting small game bullets and make real big visible hits on paper. I would love to hear any feedback from anyone who uses it, and any innovative uses. I am betting it will work well on the possums that harrass my chicken coop at night.
....make it count

If this is the same basic die as the Hanned SGB die, then I have a few comments about it.
1) Hollow points, even the cheapest ones, kill better than bullets modified by giving them a flat meplat.
2) With standard velocity ammo, my 100 yard groups shrank significantly.
3) Eley EPS top of the line match ammo has a flat meplat with a pimple in the center of it-- very similar to the flat meplat made with the Hanned tool.

I tried these flat-meplat bullets on squirrels and prairie dogs and the results were dismal compared to a good hollow point like a CCI mini mag or Winchester.

I guess my thought on these tools are if the bullet worked as good as claimed you would not need a tool as every 22 ammo maker out there would have a bullet like this. Also the ones that were made by Winchester I think it was seem to not be on the market now at least I have not seen them at my local gun shop. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
