Anyone have any experience with one? I see they are offered in 30-.06 and 45-70.

This looks like the Spartan double rifle distributed by Remington.  We have had a few threads on the Spartan Double rifles which have been positive over all.

It's the same rifle, Remington just no longer brings it in under "their" name.

Neat looking little numbers, would be handy in the bush with a bear, at least twice.  :o

I have the 45/70 and really like it. I have taken bear and a cow elk with it so far. The triggers are pretty rough but over all I am very pleased with mine. I put a 1.5X5 scope on it and both bbls. will shoot within 2" at fifty yards which is good enough for me. If, like me, you have always wanted a double rifle I would not shy away from this one. It can't stack up to the high dollar doubles in quality but, it's a ton of fun to shoot.

Here is mine in 45/70 after a day in the woods bear hunting. He was taken from a stand over a berry patch.

Say DM, how are you liking that new double rifle you just got. It really looks better in the picture than I expected. Could you post a few more photos. If you like it that well I may try one just to carry around on the mule so I can save the finish on my nicer guns.  ;)

Have a 45-70 with the Remington moniker on it.  Could never get it sighted in with the factory triggers, each broke at a differnet very heavy trigger pulls.  Had my gunsmith friend do a trigger job and now is a fun rifle to shoot.  Have an old Weaver 1.5x4 on it, old eyes had a hard time to see open sights.  Didn't get a chance to shoot at anything during reular season ,but have a 4 day anterless season starting Thurs.  Will see what happens.

Byron, with the great deal you got on your Chapuis, i'd think you wouldn't mind dragging it around all day long in your mule!  lol

Had one now about a week. Rifle is stiff to operate (new). Have tried this 30-06 with Rem. 180gr and Fed 180gr. Rem ammo has cratered primers making the rifle stiff to open. Fed ammo craters a little and shoots a little better. Haven't tried it off the bench, but have got both barrels to group about 3-4in. offhand about 25-30yds. That's good enough for the deer hunting I do around here. Next will try some Win. 180gr. and maybe some handloads. I like this rifle, but it needs some tinkering. Rear trigger is a lot better than the front one. More info on shooting this rifle is welcome. Hunman
