Glucosamin, fish oil, vitamins etc..
« on: May 29, 2013, 03:41:46 PM »
I purchase these things at local drug stores..Rite Aid, Walgreen etc.     Needless to say, they can be costly..  I started surfing the net and found a big price break with certain on-line firms.   As with anything , there are bound to be a few scoundrels involved in the business.
Have you guys tried any of these suppliers?  If so, were you pleased wiyh the products?  Can you recomend a supplier?
Please leave a link to any you are pleased with enough to reorder..    Thanks...  Ironglow

i always worry about ordering anything
from someplace where i can't drive right
over and try to solve any problem that
may arise. i try to buy my multivitamins and
such local. i haven't had any problems and
i don't think i've really lost anything as far
as price or value when you figure shipping,
the local mail delivery here (or lack of it >:( )

if you feel comfortable with those folks, i'd
go ahead and make an order.

keep in mind TANSTAAFL
good luck

if you have one. i've found a lot of their
stuff is name brand with their brand label.
for instance, their shaving razors are
wilkinson sword brand.

I have been using this for three years, it isn't cheap about $30.00 for 60 softgels. I'm still on the right side of the grass so we will see.  :-\

When it comes to glucosamin, Schiff is supposed to be the best rated. Make sure to go by their website for a one time discount coupon or specials. They also have a club kinda thing where you can get free goodies. When it comes to fish oil, you need to be careful. The Omegas can be fabulous but they can also add issues, particularly the Omega 6. If you have a cholesterol issue, it's not a good thing. I'll link a study about cholesterol that is really addressing the problem, not the symptom which is clogged arteries. You also need to avoid sugar, corn syrup, and fructose if you have cholesterol issues. I take Rexall brand Omegas with fish oil, flaxseed, and borage oil. I get it at Walmart but supposedly Dollar General I think is going to be handling Rexall brand goodies. Otherwise, Spring Valley has as good of ratings as anybody with vitamins and that's sold at Wally World.
The Omegas and Garlic help if you have high blood pressure. B6 can help with lack of metabolism as well as B12. If your cardiac system is weak and subject to cardiomyopathy, you'll want to include Selenium every other day. I would also suggest 400 units of E every day.

Wow! Larry that link is an eye opener!

I buy my glucosamin and vitamins at the dollar store. About 1/3 the price of the local drug store. Can't tell you if it is any better than what the drug store sells because when i seen the price i didn't buy any there. Haven't been down your way in years ironglow but i think there is a dollar store there. If so check it out.

We have dollar stores in this area and it seems that Dollar General is handling the Rexall brands.  I don't know however, if today's Rexall is the old line quality  pharmaceuticals they once were, of if the name was sinply sold out.
Thanks for the answers guys, I have been concerned because although some of these things seem costly, I would not be too quick to jump at just any brand, no matter how pretty the packaging.  I have heard there is some foreign made stuff coming in that is not very good, and possibly dangerous.
