Did this cannon pass tests or did it fail?
Anyone have any more info or pics on Norman Wiard's Cast Iron Gun?

Not even close to a one bore diameter chamber.  Looks like 1/2 to 1/3.    No wonder it blew up!

With brittle cast iron I bet you would get stress cracks between the bore and the Flutes (as seen in the cross section).  Only a matter of time before it fails.

It would have helped if Mr Wiard paid closer attention to the stickies.
Probably if he checked them first it would not have failed.

Which side was he on?  Looks like a good way to make shrapnel...  like the serations on a pineapple grenade.
