Bought a full size hern 1851 barrel 6lb. and now would like to aquire a good set of plans for the no. 1 carriage. Does anyone have fully dimensioned drawings that would take the guess work out of it?

No. 12 (6-pdr M1841)

Antique Ordnance Publishers
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

oprod,
Hope I don't burst your bubble here.
There are several outfits offering full scale metal kits for a #1 carriage.  They range in price from $3000 to $4000.
No one is likely to have that sitting around.
Wheels will run from $1550 to $2500 a pair depending on where you get them.
Now you have spent $5000 and haven't bought the first piece of wood. :P
There is a reason #1 carriages cost so much. :o
